Cannes is a city located in the south of France. Resting in the heart of the Riviera, the city boasts a population of 69,700 inhabitants. During the Middle Ages Cannes was a feudal dependency under the Monastery of Lérins and it wasnt until the 1830s that the city moved on from its fishing village traditions. At this time, aristocrats from France and beyond built holiday homes in the area and Cannes reputation as an exclusive holiday resort was cemented.

When I first started exploring my family tree, I sought to draw a line straight back as far as possible. Within a short time, I had names and dates all taken from shaky sources for several ancestors. Soon after, I learned that genealogy is like detective work: just because something is in print doesn't make it right. The truth tends to take a little hunting around.

Deep in southern Spain's exotic Andalucia region, used by Ridley Scott for various scenes in his crusader movie The Kingdom of Heaven is what most would agree is a wonder of the world and one of Europe's top attractions, a dramatical hilltop fortress and palaces of the Alhambra of Granada, listed as World Heritage Sites by the United Nations organization UNESCO. Before we get into details about the Alhambra and her labyrinth of stucco, aromatic gardens, fountains and jasmin, however, it is worth remembering the lessons of the past.

Dodge City Kansas is a famous old western town. Dodge City is located in Ford County, KS. The down town area is totally revitalized. There are a couple of large industries there and a huge Stock Yard, and Auction. There in town are the HQs for Excel Corporation (processed beef) and National Beef, Inc employing about 5000 and more in peak season. Cattle are brought in from the entire Midwest and as far as Canada to be sold and go to market, except during the Mad Cow, BSE cattle were discovered in Canada.
